Nowadays, people are very dependent on the internet. We can do almost anything online from researching, working, shopping, making friends and even dating. But most importantly, the general activity among internet users is searching online and as mentioned above we search and can search limitless things from facts for our research paper to entertainment. These search results and pieces of information are the reasons why search engines like Google and Yahoo are dominant in the World Wide Web.

However, searching online is not just through these giant search engines, there are some new and smaller search engines developed by today’s most promising think tanks. One of these is Search Bay, an Australian based internet tool for searching online.

What is Search Bay?

As stated earlier, Search Bay is a new search engine and with its status it is still far smaller compared to the established search engines. It was developed and introduced to the online world just recently, this year of 2008. When you visit its official site, Search Bay is really still in its earliest stage; there are no graphics and it is still very plain and simple. It is a developing search engine particularly for Australian web pages. Though you might also think that it is done, the people behind it: its developer and designer are working hard to improve Search Bay to continuously provide more accurate information for users who are into searching online.

Search results

Search Bay only indexed very few web pages; if you try searching online for anything, Search Bay will only give three to four listings of its own search results. Well, you cannot expect more from a search engine that has just been developed and introduced just recently. They also cannot give search results for pictures and other graphics and even one of the most popular sites today are still not indexed in Search Bay.

Indexing billions of web pages is not an overnight job; hence, it is too much to ask from Search Bay to yield hundred of search results. They will come to that point in the future and hopefully, they can be a good competitor to search engines like Google and Yahoo.

Features

Since, their search results are still in its developing stage, let us just focus on the features of the site. They don’t have any graphics, photos or animation in its site. However, it has one very obvious feature; that is their classification of searches. One is that they have the “Today’s Most Searched” and the “Top 20 Searches”.

At present its most searched topics are those related to electronics, business, entertainment, finances, automotive and food. And likewise, for its daily top searches; it includes gadgets, technology, cheap travels, cars, hotels and many more.

To end up, Search Bay has still a lot to prove to all internet users specifically to the Australian users. But nevertheless, they have a lot of room for improvement and they are in the right track.
