Almost everyone had experienced the pain of having a headache and the toll it brings when we are working or when we are busy. Headaches can seriously affect our daily lives so we should make an attempt to take care of ourselves and relax once in a while.
With a manual massage therapy, headaches are relieved and the side effects that come with it prescription medicines are avoided. Because massage therapy can relax tense muscles, can relieve muscle spasms and can improve blood flow circulation, it can definitely be helpful in relieving both tension and vascular headaches.
Usually, most people experience muscle tension and vascular headaches. Those people who experience muscle tension headaches feel dull, constant pain on both sides of the head involving an aching neck or a very sensitive scalp. Muscle tension headaches can last up to days especially if it is already severe.
Those people who have vascular headaches, on the other hand, can feel a pounding or throbbing sensation. Vascular headaches occur when blood vessels supplying the brain and the muscles in the head begin to swell and constrict. Vascular headache can intensify when one is stressed with physical activity. Vascular headache can be related to symptoms such as vision problems, extreme sensitivity to light and nausea. Examples of a vascular type of headaches are migraines, cluster headaches, and headaches as a result of high blood pressure.
Manual massage therapy can be a relief for both vascular and muscle tension headaches by easing muscle tension and spasms, and by releasing shortened muscles. It is said that when muscle tension eases, there will be less and less pressure on nerves and blood vessels supplying them. Oxygen- rich blood circulation then improves to relieve the pain.
Manual massage therapy will not only help you relax but will also lessen anxiety and mental stress caused by work and other liabilities in life.
