Boxes—It is important that you have the proper and size and number of boxes. Boxes can be bought from many places and if you do not want to buy, you can always ask businesses if they have extra empty boxes they can give you. If you have a budget for boxes, you can also buy from packing or shipping services, home improvement and department stores. Be sure that you get different sizes of box. Large boxes for light and bulky objects and small boxes for heavier items like books.

Tape—You will need to ensure that you have a good quality packing tape. Depending on the amount of packing you need to do, you may need several rolls of packing tape. Even if you live in a small apartment, never think that one roll of packing tape is enough.

Packing Material—Weeks before you move, make sure that you have already gathered enough newspapers. Newspapers are good packing material for most household items. But the more fragile and valuable things are, the more you will have to look for something else that can protect it like a bubble wrap, foam peanuts, and blankets.

Labels—Labels are optional but if you have a messy handwriting and you can’t understand your penmanship, you may want to buy or make some computerized labels yourself. Clearly labels boxes make or organization and unpacking a whole lot easier.

Box –Cutter—Do not just settle with big scissors, you will need to have a good knife to easily unpack your stuff.
